Even a full-time, self-employed writer is pulled in many directions at once. If you’re working on queries, a book, or articles, it’s hard to stay on task, and even harder to measure your progress. And if you have a “day job” and are taking care of a family, time is even more fragmented.
A friend came to me this week with an urgent problem: a publisher who wants to see her book proposal, and because she was busy writing the book, of course, she doesn’t have a proposal ready. A lovely problem to have, but a problem just the same. So I offered to help her whip up a proposal that showcases the merits of her book and shows how she stacks up to the competition.
Although she has no agent at present, with an interested publisher and a good book proposal ready next week, I think she will attract an agent pretty quickly.
Think good thoughts as she begins this sought-after journey to publishing, and remember to devote enough time this week to your writing goals, so you can move your work along, toward the waiting readers in your life.
